The city burns a little brighter for two months in the summer before the haze settles back over the skyline. For a second you can look at the sun setting through the trees and feel like you are somewhere else.
It's nothing you can't fix with a sad song and bottle of whiskey.
It's one of those aweful cities where it's just big enough to feel like you can go places but small enough that you still run into everyone you know.
Maybe next year I'll get out. Something has to give.
